Diet Hair: Five foods to eat to keep your locks in tip-top condition

A healthy diet can help to keep your hair in top nick. Whilst you can’t change your genetics, you do have control over what you eat. It’s vital to keep your plate stacked up with vitamins and minerals to promote hair growth. Here are five foods that are especially good for your locks.

 

Eggs

 

This ultimate breakfast food is also great for your hair. Eggs are rich in protein and Biotin, which work together to promote hair growth. 

Your hair follicles are made from protein and your hair strands are made from keratin. The protein in the eggs helps your hair follicles to maintain their strength, whilst the biotin specifically encourages the production of keratin. Win-win.

 

Greens 

 

Greens are vital to our well-being in general, but they’re also very important to keep our hair in top nick. This food group is packed full of iron, here’s why that matters: 

A lack of iron is closely linked with hair loss. That’s because our hair follicles and hair roots are fed by our blood supply which can be disrupted by a lack of iron. When this happens our follicles and roots weaken which can lead to hair loss. You’ve got to put fuel in the tank for it to run. Spinach, kale and swiss chard are all great sources.

Strawberries are packed with vitamins and compounds to make your hair stronger. Tussling for the top of the pile are Vitamin C and collagen. Here’s why they help:
