Sons full range of products for hair loss explained

When it comes to picking the right hair loss product for you, it can be difficult to get to grips with what your hair needs. There are several options available out there, so knowing how each ingredient works can be very beneficial to making your decision. To give you a helping hand, we’ve got together our four key hair loss products and gone into more detail about the what’s, how’s and when’s.

Finasteride

Finasteride is one of the most popular and effective medications used across the world when treating male pattern hair loss and is a key part of three of our treatment plans. The medication works by blocking an enzyme (Type II 5-alpha reductase) that converts testosterone into DHT, the main cause of male hair loss. Consumption couldn’t be simpler either - simply take your Finasteride tablet once a day to give yourself the best chance of positive results, which can be seen from anywhere from 3-6 months. For sustained benefits, the tablet needs to be taken long term. Finasteride has also been backed up by a variety of scientific studies, as well as being medically used for hair loss for over two decades. Some studies have even found that consistent Finasteride has a 66% success rate.

Minoxidil

Unlike our other products, Minoxidil comes in two separate forms, as seen below:

  • Topical solution

  • Our 5% Topical Minoxidil Solution is one of the best ways to potentially improve the health of your hair follicles, especially when used alongside Finasteride. Applied at a consistent rate once a day, Minoxidil can increase blood flow and oxygen to your scalp, supplying your follicles with the nutrients they need to thrive. This revitalization of hair follicles can play a big part in combating male hair loss, as shown by a variety of studies

  • Topical spray

  • If you’re looking for an alternative to taking your hair loss treatment by the capsule, our Topical Spray is an alternative option. Containing a combination of 5% Minoxidil and 0.1% Finasteride, this spray contains two of the only medications approved for treating male pattern hair loss (although in this format, it’s considered a ‘special’ or ‘off-label’ usage). If you’re experiencing some of the rare side effects of Finasteride and Minoxidil use, there is emerging evidence to suggest that topical treatment may bypass some of the risks whilst still effectively treating hair loss.

    Biotin

On top of Finasteride and Minoxidil, it’s also important to maintain the healthy hair you already have on your head. Otherwise known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H, Biotin has the potential to boost and improve the health of your hair. One of the building blocks of hair, nails and skin is keratin - a protein produced by the body. Biotin is able to improve and fortify the structure of keratin in all the parts of your body, especially for those with a deficiency. As with our other products, Biotin is easy to take in capsule form and requires consistent consumption to make an impact.

    DHT blocking Shampoo

Last, but certainly not least, is our DHT Blocking Shampoo. This blend has been formulated using an entirely natural saw palmetto extract, which has been proven to be a DHT blocker. When used consistently every day, our Shampoo could lower levels of the destructive hormone in the scalp, giving you a helping hand in the fight against hair loss. As well as saw palmetto, DHT Blocking Shampoo also contains argan oil, iron and vitamin B3 to help revitalise your hair.
