Minoxidil is one of only two medications - along with Finasteride - that has been clinically proven to successfully treat hair loss in the vast majority of men. However, like most medications, Minoxidil takes time to get to work and treatment isn’t successful for every man. If you’re not getting the results you wanted, don’t panic. To help you understand a little more about Minoxidil, here are a few ways to improve your results if it’s taking longer than expected.

Patience is vital if you want the best results from Minoxidil. In fact, it can take around three months to see those first signs of improvement, with another nine months to reach their peak. Achieving those results also depends on the consistency of your application - even skipping a few days each month can lower your chances of success. Thankfully, it’s easy to use our solution - simply apply 1ml of Minoxidil to the areas of your temple and crown that are thinning once in the morning and once in the evening. We suggest pairing this application with other parts of your daily routine (such as brushing your teeth) or setting reminders on your phone so you don’t forget. It takes approximately a month to develop a habit so stick with it for the first month and it should get easier to maintain the routine after this.

It is also worth mentioning that a small number of men (up to 10%) may experience shedding when they first start applying Minoxidil to their scalp. While this can be scary, there’s no need to panic - this is actually an indication that the medication is working. Minoxidil works by heightening the blood flow to the scalp, which in turn encourages older hairs to shed. With consistent application, these are replaced with healthier strands of hair and the shedding should settle down.

While some men use Minoxidil on its own, the medication is much more effective when used alongside Finasteride. Various studies have verified their successful use as a treatment for hair loss, with this research reporting 84% of men maintaining good hair density when using the combination. Our treatment plans all contain the combination of these two medications, as well as our Topical Spray. If you want to go all out, our Full Works treatment plan also contains DHT Blocker Shampoo and Biotin supplements to provide the perfect foundation for Minoxidil to get to work effectively.

For those men still concerned about the lack of results after using Minoxidil for a significant amount of time, it’s worth getting in touch with a doctor or our own professional consultants for further advice. There may be an underlying reason as to why the medication isn’t being as effective as it should be, so there’s no harm in talking things through with a professional.

If you’re asking yourself ‘does Minoxidil work?’, the answer isn’t the same for everybody. While Minoxidil is a proven treatment for hair loss, not everybody will achieve the results they’re looking for. However, consistent use and a healthy routine are all ways to boost your chances of stopping your hair loss.
