Finasteride is one of only two medications (along with Minoxidil) that has been clinically proven to help men with hair loss. However, while Finasteride gets to work immediately, it will take at least a few months before you start noticing any concrete results. So - how long does it take for Finasteride to work? Here’s our Finasteride results timeline to help you out.

One day

Straight after you take your first tablet, Finasteride will get to work and have an immediate effect on your body. The medication works by inhibiting the production of DHT, which is the hormone that is the root cause of male pattern hair loss. In fact, studies have shown that Finasteride can lower DHT levels by as much as 70%.

Even after the first day, your DHT levels will lower and you’ll have taken the first step of your hair loss treatment. Despite all this, one dose isn’t enough to have any concrete effect on your hair loss.

A few months

After a few months of consistent daily dosage, you could start seeing the results of your Finasteride treatment. While it takes around six months to see significant improvements, spotting signs that the treatment is working is both encouraging and rewarding. This may come in the form of slowed recession or thickening up of the hair.

However, it’s important to note that Finasteride doesn’t necessarily always cause your hair to regrow. Most men use the medication to slow down or even halt the rate of hair loss. If you’re not seeing the results you wanted at this stage - don’t give up. Finasteride takes time to get into its rhythm and even a few days without your daily dosage can have a big impact on your final results.

One year

Hair loss treatment is a long process, but the potential for great results makes it all worth it. A year after taking your first Finasteride capsule, your DHT levels will have reduced drastically and hair loss will have slowed down as a result or even stopped completely. If you want to see some real-life examples at this stage of the Finasteride process, take a look at our testimonials page.

It doesn’t end here though - continuing with your treatment on a daily basis is vital to maintain the gains you have achieved. It’s important to remember that these treatments only work for as long as you are taking them - stopping the medication will allow DHT back in and hair loss will resume again over time.
Remember - patience, alongside consistency, is the key with any Finasteride treatment. Combining the medication with Minoxidil has also been shown to boost your chances of achieving impressive results. Interested in tackling your hair loss? Take a look through our treatment plans today.
