What is Minoxidil and how does it work?

Minoxidil is a vasodilator, which means it can actively combat this process by expanding the blood vessels in your scalp, therefore promoting healthy blood flow. How long does Minoxidil take to work?

By shortening the 'resting' (telogen) phase of the hair follicle, forcing old hairs to be shed to make way for new, healthier hairs to grow in their place. This temporary period of increased shedding when you start using Minoxidil can feel alarming, but it is a sign the medication is working.
