Head Hiders: The best and worst cover-ups

07 September 2019
2-minute read

When the topic of keeping your hair comes into question, it can be easy to lose your cool. Naturally, you want to regain control over the issue. Here’s our breakdown of the best and worst cover-ups.

The best

Keep your hair short

Keeping your hair short is definitely the way to go. We know it can be tough to let go but shorter hairstyles look fuller and more confident. Go short, be bold and own it.

Grow facial hair

Growing facial hair is a way of taking ownership of your situation. It directs attention away from the hair on your head whilst also being stylish and positive. Make sure your facial hair is well-groomed – it looks more deliberate and deliberate is good.

Find a good barber

Our barbers are right behind us when it comes to looking after our hair, literally. Being upfront and honest with people is always the best way to go. Find yourself a good barber and tell them about your situation. The more they know, the more they can help. Trust us – it makes a massive difference.

Style with care

In the early stages, styling is a good way of creating a fuller look. Try to keep the hair products to a minimum and always go organic. This gentler approach will encourage the health of your hair.

The worst

Comb-overs

If you’re struggling to keep your hair in one area, don’t compensate by combing over from one side to another. It causes stress to that part of the hair and leads to further issues. Why else? Bobby Charlton and Donald Trump. That’s why.

Hairpieces

Hairpieces are an age-old approach, but not one that we advise. This is mainly because we think it’s better to own the situation and take action. We recommend facing the issue head-on and being positive. Plus, hairpieces turn wind into an unnecessary problem.

Hats

This is a very popular choice for modern men with hair on their mind and we can see why. A hat looks more natural than other attempts to cover-up. However, not only is it difficult to sustain consistently wearing a hat, it’s also not the best for your hair and it reduces the oxygen supply to your scalp and roots. Safer to play the long game.

The best of the best
